Silver Valley & Sierra Silver Mine Tour

 

Enjoy a scenic drive to Wallace, ID, a historic mining town in the beautiful Silver Valley. Your tour begins as you board the Sierra Silver Mine trolley and make your way through downtownWallace, learning about the history of the Silver Capital of the World! Upon your arrival at the mine, an experienced miner will take you on a tour through the main drift of an actual underground silver mine. Using exhibits, and demonstrations of operating mine equipment, you will learn historical and modern-day techniques used to mine silver, gold, lead , zinc, and copper. From the mine, you'll trolley back into town to enjoy a tasty lunch.

Throughout the day, you'll have time to stroll through the shops in town, tour at the Northern Pacific Railroad Museum, Wallace Mining Museum, and Sierra Silver Mine store, where you will learn about local history, mining efforts, and the areas unique heritage.

 

Your history-filled tour even includes the last working bordello in Wallace - The Oasis. Raided and closed in 1988, the rooms have been left as they were the day of the raid, right down to the cigarettes in ashtrays! It's a fascinating look back in this Wild West town. Enjoy the shops in this charming, historic town, which has proclaimed itself "The Center of theUniverse" (look for the marker in the center of town). You may even bump into the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of Wallace!
